Stephen joined Google in 2012 to work on machine learning for automatic image enhancement on the Google+ Photos team, and in 2013 moved to Google [x] to work on computational photography. Prior to that, he was a research scientist in Adobe's Advanced technology Labs for five years. Stephen received his Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was advised by Tobias Höllerer in the Four Eyes Lab, and his B.S. in 2002 from Harvey Mudd College. Stephen's research has spanned many areas, notably augmented reality, novel displays, and natural media painting, and more generally computer graphics, computer vision, human computer interaction, and novel interfaces. His goal is to use advanced technology to re-imagine the way people use computers.
