I am interested in modeling human cognition and creativity -- specifically, my background is in music cognition. Before joining Google in 2012, I completed a Ph.D. in computer science and cognitive science at Indiana University, where I used Douglas Hofstadter's ideas on analogy-making to develop a new computer model of music listening. I have also done research in the field of music informatics. In a nutshell, I'm interested in things such as machine perception, machine hearing, and machine creativity.
